Only two packages are offered on this “high value” Tiguan, including a Wheel package ($495) and Premium package ($1,295). The Wheel package tacks on 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels instead of the steelies. If for some reason you desire the Premium package on the stripper Tiguan, you’ll be able to enjoy a 6.33-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a leather steering wheel, roof rails and -- wait for it -- cruise control. VW decided you aren’t allowed to have cruise control on your cheap Tiguan unless the $1,295 Premium package is optioned.
However, even with both packages selected, the Tiguan Limited is still a good deal cheaper than the current base Tiguan. We asked Volkswagen about the future of the Limited and were told that if it lives beyond 2017, it will remain on the old platform and not the redesigned 2018 Tiguan.
VW says the bargain compact SUV will be in showrooms “soon.”
