JUNEAU, Wis. - A Dodge County jury found Brian K. Larson II, a 29-year-old man from Beaver Dam, guilty of first-degree reckless homicide for delivering the heroin that killed Dakoda Kline, a release said.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Department received a call on April 9, 2017 for a suspicious vehicle parked in a cemetery. Kline was found dead in the car and the medical examiner confirmed that Kline died of a heroin overdose.
Information from Kline's phone and cellphone records indicated that Kline made multiple withdrawals from his bank account after work on April 8, 2017, the release said.
Texts and calls between Kline and Larson show that Kline was trying to buy heroin through Larson. According to the release, expert testimony placed the two men together before Kline went to inject heroin at the cemetery.
During the four-day trial, Assistant District Attorney Yolanda J. Tienstra showed evidence regarding the timeline of events leading up to Kline's death.
"The death of Dakoda Kline was the tragic result of Brian Larson’s criminal behavior," Tienstra said. "I hope that the guilty verdict will provide Mr. Kline’s family with the sense of justice they hoped to receive.”
Lason faces 46 years in prison for reckless homicide and bail jumping and more than $100,000 in fines. His sentencing is scheduled for June 5.
