CRISTIANO RONALDO is set to face Manchester United this summer after being kept away from a tournament in America over fears he will be detained in a rape probe.
His side Juventus have dodged International Champions Cup matches in the US and will instead take part in the Asian version of the competition alongside Premier League clubs Tottenham and United.
The Portugal superstar, 34, is accused of sexually assaulting Kathryn Mayorga, 35, in Las Vegas back in 2009 – which the footy icon denies.
The model claims the £100m striker raped her in a hotel room when she was 25 and working in Rain nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort.
But her lawyers are now trying to overturn that alleged settlement with police re-opening the investigation, which could have caused the five-time world player of the year serious issues if he set foot on American soil.
The majority of matches this summer’s International Champions Cup are due to take place in the US, but organisers have conspired to ensure Juventus, who have a long-standing agreement to take part, will play theirs in Asia.
The matches will most likely be in China and Singapore, where Juventus will be joined by Ronaldo’s former club Man Utd and Spurs.
The International Champions Cup's official schedule will be released next week.
Last year Juventus played in New Jersey, Philadelphia and Landover in Maryland.
Ronaldo strongly denies Mayorga’s claims and has called them “fake news”, saying the sex was consensual.
His lawyer attorney Peter S Christiansen issued a lengthy statement in response to the “inflammatory accusations” lodged against his client.
“The documents which purportedly contain statements by Mr Ronaldo and have been reported in the media are complete fabrications,” he said.
“To be clear, Mr Ronaldo vehemently denies all of the allegations in the complaint and has consistently maintained that denial for the last nine years.”
Juve have also backed Ronaldo and praised his attitude since moving to Turin.
They wrote: “Cristiano Ronaldo has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus.
“The events allegedly dating back to almost 10 years ago do not change this opinion, which is shared by anyone who has come into contact with this great champion.”

Ronaldo was playing for Manchester United when the alleged rape occurred on June 19, 2009 but would join Madrid that summer.
He has continued his rich vein of goalscoring form since heading to Turin last July, scoring 24 times so far for Serie A leaders Juve.
Ronaldo is currently back in Portugal and training in Oeiras as he prepares from his country's Euro qualifier against Ukraine tomorrow and Monday's clash with Ukraine.
