In a rare turn of events, the new Mazda 2 facelift has been leaked after a digital copy of a flyer was uploaded online. Curiously, the updated hatchback seems to look a lot like the rendered version we posted late last year, although the bulk of the similarities is only on the front end of things.
From these pictures, it’s clear that the Mazda 2’s redesigned face is inspired by the Mazda 6 facelift and new Mazda 3, featuring slimmer headlights with rounded LED DRLs. The turn indicators remain affixed to the edge of the clusters, just like before. The radiator grille appears to be similar in size to the outgoing model, but looks cleaner with a more distinct mesh-type design and thick chrome garnish.
The entire bumper itself is new as well, and like the Mazda 6, the older rounded fog lamps have been replaced entirely by a pair of long LED strips. Other visible exterior changes include a set of new 16-inch multispoke alloy wheels in gunmetal finish.
Inside, things seem nearly identical to the last update in 2016, which means the existing three-spoke leather steering wheel, free-standing infotainment display and MZD Connect system continue serving duties. What’s new, though, is the addition of the new Navy Blue leather seat upholstery. This material is also used on the dash trim, complete with contrast stitching as well.
Other than that, expect no changes to be done mechanically. Powering the B-segment hatch is either a 1.3 litre SkyActiv-G or 1.5 litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine, the latter making 114 hp at 6,000 rpm and 148 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A six-speed automatic with manual override and Sport mode should be available, as well as steering-mounted paddle shifters and G-Vectoring Control setup. Expect a range of new colours to be added as well, such as the new Polymetal Grey. Like what you see, folks?
