Pagani Plotting Pure EV And New V12 Model With Manual Transmission

Pagani plans on building an electric supercar beginning 2025, after first unveiling a successor to its Huayra powered by an AMG V12 and equipped with a manual gearbox.

While the Italian automaker has made V12 cars its foundation for decades, after its next model bows – with a new-gen Mercedes-AMG-based V12 clean enough to meet emissions standards without having to go hybrid – it’s aiming for battery power, CEO Horacio Pagani told Spanish-language TV program elTresTV.

Twenty of the company’s engineers and designers are working now on the project, Pagani said, though he did not clarify whether the car would be a supercar or hypercar or a more mainstream model. He did confirm the company’s range wouldn’t go pure EV for some time, with plans to offer gas cars in the lineup alongside the battery-powered vehicle.
