Porsche Launches New Sports Car And SUV Subscription Program

Getting behind the wheel of a Porsche isn’t exactly affordable as the company’s least expensive model is the Macan which starts at $47,800.

The company is working to fix that by launching two new pilot programs in the United States which aim to make driving a Porsche more affordable than ever. The pilot programs are being launched on both coasts and will give drivers on-demand access to company’s lineup of sports cars and crossovers.

The first pilot program is called Porsche Drive and the company bills it as a follow up to the Porsche Passport subscription service. While the latter offers monthly subscriptions, Porsche Drive is focused on short-term rentals.

The service was launched in Atlanta, Georgia this week and it allows users to rent a Porsche for four hours or up to a week. The service provides access to all six Porsche models and pricing starts at $269 (£206 / €231) to spend four hours with 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman or Macan. At the top end, customers will pay $2,909 (£2,232 / €2,502) to spend a week with a 911.

The service includes “white-glove concierge delivery” and requests for cars be made by phone, e-mail or though a dedicated website.

The other pilot program is called Porsche Host and it is a peer-to-peer vehicle service which will be offered in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Developed with the assistance of Turo, the service will launch on October 8th and feature an assortment of Porsche models owned by a group of “outstanding Turo hosts who have been trained to offer a five-star Porsche experience.”

Reservations are made using the Turo app or website and rental periods range from one day to a month or longer. In essence, it’s your regular Turo experience with owners picked by Porsche.
