Recall Alert: 2007 2011 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra 2500

2013 Chevy HD Chassis II>

Vehicles Affected: About 9,733 2012 and 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty 3500 Chassis Cab and GMC Sierra Heavy Duty 3500 Chassis Cab pickup trucks equipped with the Duramax turbo-diesel engine and standard dual fuel tank option.

The Problem: The transfer pump that is designed to keep both tanks at the same level of fuel can malfunction and allow the fuel gauge to indicate an inaccurate reading. Not knowing exactly how much fuel is in the tanks could lead to reduced engine power, unexpected stalling and prevent the vehicle from starting.

The Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and install a new fuel pump free of charge.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can contact Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 800-462-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to GM's ID number for the recall is 13420.
