It’s been a long time coming but Pagani is finally ready to unveil the new Huayra Roadster, although you’ll have to wait a little while longer for the Geneva Motor Show in March for its official debut. To go along with the announcement, the Italian carmaker has released this teaser image on its Facebook page along with plenty of obvious hashtags.
Seen here is the front of the car, specifically the nose section near the grille and LED DRLs, which doesn’t reveal much really. However, it new model is expected to feature a removable hardtop made out of carbon-fibre, just like the Zonda Roadster before it, along with a new rear deck to accommodate the changes.
Much like the coupe, only 100 units of the Huayra Roadster could be produced, with all likely to be pre-sold to those privileged enough to purchase one. Reports have indicated that these lucky buyers already got an early glimpse at the car during a private event organized in 2016 at the company’s new 5,800 square metre factory in San Cesario Sul Panaro, Modena.
As for motivation, the Huayra Roadster will retain the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 6.0 litre biturbo V12 that produces 730 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque. Performance figures should be similar to the coupe, even with the modifications to accommodate the new roof setup, with the fixed hardtop accomplishing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds before hitting its top speed off about 370 km/h.
The Huayra Roadster was originally scheduled to be introduced during last year’s Geneva show, according to Autoblog but was later replaced with the Huayra BC instead. We’ll have to wait and see if the open-top Huayra adopts some of the BC’s upgrades, or if Pagani has plans to make a roadster version of the BC in the future.
