The Journey From Formula 2 To Formula 1

When you see a bundle of games roll out onto the Xbox Store promising that the inspiration behind them were found in the likes of The Legend of Zelda, Diablo and

Final Fantasy, it’s very hard to ignore the call. That is what we are seeing today as Evoland: Legendary Edition hits Xbox One, bringing together the original Evoland with the sequel, Evoland 2.

First released back in 2013, Evoland threatens to take you on a little journey through the history of action-adventure gaming, allowing the chance to unlock new technologies, mess around with multiple gameplay systems, and witness graphical upgrades as progression through the game is made. With this title inspired by those mentioned previously, expect to find an 8-bit style of gameplay merging into a full modern-day 3D graphical experience, as you are taken from turn-based battles to real time boss fights, all with charming humour and references to many classic games thrown in for good measure.

Once you are done with that though, then Evoland 2 will no doubt be able to also draw you in. Taking what was found in its predecessor, Evoland 2 deepens the formula to offer a full-blown RPG adventure. This time round an epic story, deep combat, numerous customization options, dozens of characters to interact with and varied locations to visit will all be present. This will see you taking battles to the street, involving yourself in the most challenging puzzles, and partaking in some tense shoot ’em up gameplay.

Evoland: Legendary Edition on Xbox One certainly looks to be covering all the bases with multiple game ideas and mechanics bundled together as one. Whether this works or not will only be discovered as our full review goes live – make sure you keep an eye out for it.

That said, if you’ve played Evoland previously then you will no doubt realise what a lovely little game it is and that may well swing you straight into a purchase of Evoland: Legendary Edition direct from the

Xbox Store. The £16.74 price tag helps sway that purchase too.

Prefer to check out Evoland: Legendary Edition on a different format? You’re in luck as the collection has also released on Nintendo Switch and PS4
