As millions of pesky lovebugs swarm Florida, residents are trying to cope with the invasion in both practical and hilarious ways. One Florida man is seen in a viral video using some semi-acrobatic moves a la The Matrix to dodge the annoying bugs while trying to get into his house.
Devirus Pollard posted the video of his bug battle on Facebook. “This love bug season got me like…” he said on the social media platform.
In the video, Pollard can be seen “punching” the lovebugs, which swarm the Sunshine State twice a year, as he tries to make his way into house. He also kicks and dodges the annoying bugs with moves similar to that used by Neo from the 1999 film The Matrix. The character, played by Keanu Reeves, famously dodges a hail of bullets in dramatic slow motion in the movie.
In the past few days, Florida social media users have been sharing video and photos of the annoying insects, which splatter their gooey insides on car hoods and windshields, and fly into people’s mouths. Many are calling this season “the worst lovebug year ever.”
